English abstract

The Nuovo Soggettario Thesaurus is structured to enable displaying the different types of relationships among the terms it contains according to ISO 2788/1986. There are three types of relationship that thesaurus term can have with one another: the hierarchical relationship, the associative relationship and the equivalence relationship. The Thesaurus can have a polyhierarchical structure: an individual term may have more than one broader term. The structure of the Nuovo Soggettario has been given the definition of “moderated polyhierarchy”, that is, tending to a monohierarchical structure.

I termini del Thesaurus del Nuovo soggettario, in aderenza con quanto previsto dalla Norma ISO 2788/1986, sono legati da relazioni gerarchiche, di equivalenza ed associative. Alla struttura del Thesaurus la poligerarchia è applicata solo in certi casi, limitatamente ai criteri stabiliti e con particolari cautele. Quando è stata privilegiata la struttura monogerarchica, i termini “soccombenti” hanno acquisito, con il termine di partenza, una relazione associativa (RT). Alcuni esempi mostrano casi interessanti dal punto di vista della struttura gerarchica preferita.
