English abstract

The study aimed to identify the internet facilities and information sources used by researchers, the factors considered internet as information sources, access problems and use of Ministry of Agricultures website. Respondents were the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development's (IAARD) researchers domiciled at Bogor who used internet. Questionnaires were distributed to 374 researchers who 105 among them used internet. As much as 64 respondents responded the questionnaires. Researchers were grouped into professional and candidates of professional. Internet facility which was often used was e-mail, while information source was commercial institution. Ministry of Agriculture's website was used only by professional researchers. Menus used were regulation, agribusiness, statistics, and information on issues of development at the headquarter. Factors supporting the use of internet were access of communication and information, while factor inhibiting was lack of access facilities.

Indonesian abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fasilitas internet yang sering dimanfaatkan peneliti, sumber informasi yang digunakan, pemanfaatan website Deprtan, faktor-faktor yang memnentukan pemilihan internet sebagai sumber informasi. Responden adalah peneliti Badan Litbang Pertanian yang menggunakan internet dan berkantor di Bogor. Pada kuesioner tahap I dari 374 peneliti aktif diperoleh 105 pene;iti pengguna internet yang pada tahap II, mengembalikan kuesioner sebanyak 64 dan kemudian dikelompokkan menjadi peneliti profesional dan calon peneliti profesional. Fasilitas internet yang sering digunakan adalah fasilitas email, sumber informasi yang relatif sering dipakai untuk pencarian dan penelusuran informasi adalah institusi komersial. Website Deptan dimanfaatkan hanya oleh kelompok peneliti profesional untuk mengetahui perkembangan di kantor pusat dan data/informasi yang sulit. Menu yang banyak digunakan adalah peraturan, agribisnis dan statistik. Faktor yang mendukung pemanfaatan internet adalah akses komunikasi dan informasi dan yang menghambat adalah sarana akses yang terbatas.
