The paper illustrates the role of OPAC systems in the developing environment of the new technologies (preserving access to library collections, maintaining a consistent and authoritative form of bibliographic control, providing a targeted information environment for specific client groups).

Italian abstract

L'intervento illustra il ruolo degli OPAC nell'ambiente sempre in cambiamento delle nuove tecnologie. Compito degli OPAC, ad esempio, è quello di preservare e garantire l'accesso alle collezioni fisiche oltre che a mantenere una forma autorevole di controllo bibliografico, fornendo informazioni specifiche a seconda dei diversi utenti.
