A network is developed when a group of libraries and information centers have common interest to exchange information through computer and communication technology. A library network is a collective or co-operative activity of linking members/users to the resources hosted on computers by means of telecommunication connections. The paper deals with a metropolitan area networks in detail and throws some light on services of subject area networks. Also suggest to college libraries, have a membership of such type of networks so that they can provide the effective services and wider access to the e-resources.
