English abstract
The author, one of the advocates of open access, stresses the importance of this initiative for scientific development in general. He also explains its utility to correct inequalities and injustices that implies the existence of a barrier to knowledge between poor countries and the developed ones. He introduces the debate on the issue of scientific authority and its modalities. Open access to scientific literature, he argues, will be able to optimize the working capacity of the scientists everywhere and help to the development of the science.

El autor, uno de los animadores del acceso abierto, destaca la importancia de esta iniciativa para el desarrollo científico en general. Explica, asimismo, su utilidad para corregir desigualdades e injusticias que supone la existencia de una barrrera al conocimiento entre los países pobres con los más avanzados. Introduce aquí el debate sobre la cuestión del poder científico y sus modalidades. El acceso abierto a la literatura científica, sostiene, podrá optimizar la capacidad de trabajo de los científicos de todas partes y ayudar al desarrollo de la ciencia.
