English abstract
The article overviews the 76th IFLA General Conference and Congress, which took place in Quebec, Canada. The key subject of the conference was “Libraries Without Borders: Navigating Towards Global Understanding”, i.e. the future of digital libraries. The article introduces recent documents prepared by IFLA and UNESCO (“Manifesto for Digital Libraries” and “World Guide to Library, Archive and Information Science Associations“) as well as practical recommendations. Organizational issues concerning digital libraries were discussed at the IFLA Sections of Preservation and Conservation, Information Technology, and the IFLA-CDNL Alliance for Bibliographic Standards (ICABS). Much attention was paid also to bibliographic control of Internet documents, their long-term preservation, application of appropriate standards and perspectives of the UNIMARC data format
