English abstract

Librarians are currently ahead of their libraries in the use of handheld equipment, especially smart phones, and this is how many libraries have been able to launch their first initiatives related to mobility of content. This system has emerged spontaneously in libraries, but is receiving special attention from companies, where it is called "bring your own device" (BYOD) and seems to be a way to save costs. On the other hand, BYOD raises the need for appropriate policies to address security risks. Theimplementation of a BYOD system in libraries is discussed, paying attention to potential advantages and disadvantages and some practical questions.

Spanish abstract

Los bibliotecarios se sitúan por delante de sus bibliotecas en el uso de dispositivos móviles, especialmente smartphones. De esta manera muchas bibliotecas están siendo capaces de poner en marcha las primeras iniciativas relacionadas con la movilidad de los contenidos. Este sistema, que en el ámbito bibliotecario ha surgido de manera espontánea, recibe el nombre de BYOD (bring your own device) y está siendo objeto de atención por parte de las empresas, que lo ven como una vía para ahorrar costes y plantean la necesidad de políticas adecuadas por los riesgos que puede entrañar para la seguridad. Se plantea la aplicación del sistema BYOD en bibliotecas, posibles ventajas e inconvenientes y algunas cuestiones sobre su implantación.
