English abstract

This paper discussed the role journals play in the development of emerging LIS scholars. It describes the characteristics of merging LIS scholars and concludes that editors are not doing enough to encourage emerging scholars in LIS. The paper recommends that there is a need for LIS Professional associations to provide an enabling environment for emerging LIS scholars in Nigeria.
