English abstract

The 34th Annual LIBER Conference held on the 5th-9th July 2005 in Groningen, Netherlands, under the heading "Strategic Choices: Current Thinking". The presentations treated different themes about the development of libraries in the age of Amazon.com and Google.com, the transformation of university libraries in a specific place for training and education. It stressed on the cooperation of libraries with the aim to find fast operational decisions for general problems and general needs. We also discussed the problems about the space, preservation and digitization of library collections. Most of the speakers introduced different projects in these aspects and their results. A lot of commercial products were demonstrated such as databases and software solutions for management of electronic resources. In the end of the conference we were made aware of the future meetings and conferences of the forth basic divisions of LIBER (Preservation Division, Library Management and Administration Division, Access Division, Collection Development Division). The conference was accompanied with show exhibition of publishers (Oxford University Press, Elsevier, etc.), and suppliers of databases (EBSCO, ProQuest,), electronic resources and services (Blackwells, YBP, GEAC), software products (ExLibris, IBM, OCLC I PICA), and a terminal station for self-service (3M). Bulgarian abstract

Четиридневната 34-а годишна конференция на LIBER се проведе в гр. Грьонинген, Кралство Холандия, в един от най-старите университети в Западна Европа, втори по възраст в Холандия - създаден през 1614 г. В конференцията взеха участие 206 представители от 33 държави. 34-а презентатори задържаха вниманието на аудиторията през всичките дни от 9 сутринта до 6 вечерта. Бяха проведени срещи на 4-те основни направления, в които LIBER подкрепя и подпомага дейностите и развитието на европейските университетски библиотеки.
