English abstract

Collections’ description is fundamental for the finding, the access, the management and the their utilization by the user. Collection Level Description, RSLP Collection Description, Dublin Core Collection, NISO Collection Description, ZVdD, IMLS Digital Collection and Content represent all metadata schemes and standard for the collections’ description. Also the European projects MINERVA and MICHAEL have the centre in the collections, in their description and in the relation among them.

La descrizione delle collezioni, di aggregazioni di oggetti, è fondamentale per il reperimento, l’accesso, la gestione e il loro utilizzo da parte dell’utente. Collection Level Description, RSLP Collection Description, Dublin Core Collection, NISO Collection Description, ZVdD, IMLS Digital Collection and Content rappresentano tutti schemi di metadati e standard nati per la descrizione delle collezioni. Anche nei progetti europei MINERVA e MICHAEL il punto nodale è costituito dalle collezioni, dalla loro descrizione e dalle relazioni che intercorrono tra di loro.
