English abstract
It was decided in 1978 to develop an international authority system and a working group was established for that purpose during the IFLA Conference in Strbské Pleso in former Czechoslovakia. Its terms of reference were the following: to discuss and formulate the specifications for an international authority system to satisfy the bibliographic needs of libraries, to develop the UNIMARC format for authorities, to develop methods for the efficient and effective exchange of authority data.

Nel 1978 si è stabilito di sviluppare un authority system internazionale, e a tal fine è stato formato un gruppo di lavoro in occasione della conferenza dell’IFLA di Strbské Pleso, nella ex Cecoslovacchia. I criteri di riferimento sono i seguenti: • discutere e formulare le specifiche per un authority system internazionale al fine di soddisfare le esigenze bibliografiche delle biblioteche; • sviluppare il formato UNIMARC per le forme di autorità; • sviluppare i metodi per uno scambio efficiente ed efficace degli authority data.
