English abstract

Identifies challenging issues on the management of school libraries of government aided/sponsored schools in West Bengal. Proposes solutions to overcome the identified problems. The suggestions are based on author’s working experience in a newly set up school libraries and based on discussions select school librarians. The paper concluded stating that in West Bengal the requirement for efficiency of school libraries are creating good environment for library development and positive attitudes from authority for right utilization of library professionals.
