Abstract(s)

The increasing vitality on the area of information- and media technology has serious impact on academic education. A demand for information literacy arises. This paper deals with the duty of academic libraries that are founded in course of the missing information literacy. Academic libraries in Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian countries have an active role, the mediation of information literacy to students already have tradition. With the example of USA the development of information literacy will be highlighted and effective methods will be presented. In the following part the development in Germany and Switzerland will be analysed. A comparison of the German/Swiss and American situation will be drawn.

Die zunehmende Dynamik auf dem Gebiet der Informations-, Vernetzungs- und Medientechnologien hat für das System der akademischen Ausbildung gravierende Auswirkungen. Es wird eine neue Literacy, die Information Literacy, verlangt. Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den Aufgaben der Hochschulbibliotheken, die im Zusammenhang mit der Vermittlung von Information Literacy entstehen. In den Hochschulbibliotheken der angelsächsischen und skandinavischen Länder hat die aktive Rolle, die Bibliothekare im Rahmen der Ausbildung von Information Literacy bei Studierenden spielen, bereits eine gewisse Tradition. Am Beispiel der USA wird die Entwicklung von Information Literacy aufgezeigt. Es wird auf Forschungsergebnisse und wirkungsvolle Methoden zur Vermittlung von Information Literacy eingegangen. In einem weiteren Teil werden die Entwicklungen in Deutschland und der Schweiz analysiert. Die Erkenntnisse werden anschliessend mit der Situation der USA verglichen.
