English abstract

Comics are informational resources that have been gaining prominence in cultural heritage institutions. Cataloging is able, through processes, instruments and products, to guarantee and expand the forms of retrieval and access to informational resources. This research, with a qualitative approach, theoretical and exploratory character, aims to analyze the metadata for cataloging comic books and discusses, in the results, the metadata identified from the literature mapping. It is concluded that the metadata standards turn to the data structure instead of the comic book content and that, in most cases, the fields described do not meet the particularities of the institutions.

As histórias em quadrinhos são recursos informacionais que tem ganhado destaque nas instituições de patrimônio cultural. A catalogação tem condições, por meio de processos, instrumentos e produtos, de garantir e ampliar as formas de recuperação e acesso aos recursos informacionais. Esta pesquisa, de abordagem qualitativa, cunho teórico e caráter exploratório, tem por objetivo analisar os metadados para catalogação de história em quadrinhos e discute, nos resultados, os metadados identificados a partir do mapeamento de literatura. Conclui-se que os padrões de metadados se voltam à estrutura dos dados ao invés do conteúdo das histórias em quadrinhos e que os campos descritos não atendem às particularidades das instituições.
