English abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming how information is accessed and used, but its reliability depends on the quality of underlying data structures. This paper argues that metadata is essential for preventing AI hallucinations and ensuring trustworthy outcomes. When AI systems operate in fragmented or poorly structured environments, they often produce plausible but incorrect results due to insufficient context and weak governance. These failures are not only model limitations but also reflect deficiencies in metadata and information management practices. By providing identity, context, provenance, status, permissions, and traceability, metadata enables accurate retrieval, verification, and responsible automation. The paper also highlights the importance of information governance frameworks in ensuring consistency and accountability, positioning metadata as critical infrastructure for reliable and auditable AI systems.
