English abstract

The library space is characterized as a space of social and cultural interaction which is put in a perspective of changing lives and cultural rights. Poverty and social exclusion are addressed in the context of the information society. Literexclusion and informational literacy are characterized in what the latter contributes to the extension of that concept. Possible areas for intervention and a set of measures and practices are singled out.

O espaço da Biblioteca é caracterizado como um espaço de interacção social e cultural, o que é colocado numa perspectiva de vidas em mudança e de direitos culturais. Aborda-se a pobreza e a exclusão no contexto da sociedade da informação. Caracteriza-se a literexclusão e a literacia informacional no que esta contribui para a extensão daquele conceito. Apontam-se possíveis áreas de intervenção e um conjunto de medidas e práticas.
