English abstract

As information professionals, it is important for us both to understand open access and to become proficient in its use. One of the goals of E-LIS is to encourage the open access movement. Established in 2003 for the deposit of documents in the Library and Information Science (LIS), it is now the largest international e-prints archive in LIS, covering over 3000 documents. The presentation examines the origins and development of E-LIS as well as discussing the level of Turkey's contribution to the archive.

Hızla yayılan açık erişim hareketlerinin devamı olarak ortaya çıkan açık arşivlerden biri de E-LIS’tir. 2003 yılında kütüphane ve enformasyon bilimi alanındaki dokümanları bir araya getirmek amacı ile kurulan E-LIS, kapsadığı 2700’den fazla doküman ile bu konu alanında en geniş uluslararası e-print açık arşividir. Bu sunumda E-LIS açık arşivinin gelişimi ve özellikleri üzerinde durulacaktır. Açık erişim felsefesini yaymak, tanıtmak ve kullandırmak E-LIS’in daha geniş çerçevedeki amacını oluşturmaktadır. Bunu gerçekleştirmek için öncelikle biz bilgi profesyonelleri kendi alanımızda oluşturulmuş bu açık arşivin çalışmalarını takip etmeli ve bir parçası olmalıyız.
