Normally is thought that the ancient book can be used in the didactic only with boys of the high schools. The public library of Empoli, with his ancient collections, has tried the involvement of children. The author reports about her experiences that they have involved children of ages 4 - 5 and 6 - 10. The author used every specific characteristics of the ancient books that they are in her public library. For example the ancient books damaged during the second world war.

Normalmente si ritiene che il libro antico possa essere usato nella didattica solamente coni ragazzi delle scuole superiori. La biblioteca civica di Empoli, con i suoi fondi antichi, ha voluto sperimentare il coinvolgimento di bambini. L'autrice riferisce delle esperienze che hanno coinvolto i bambini della materna e delle elementari. Sono state usate alcune caratteristiche specifiche dei fondi antichi di Empoli, come i libri antichi danneggiati dalla Seconda Guerra Mondiale.
