Lo studio delle postille ha ormai una sua dignità. Permane però la difficoltà concettuale di trovare un’esatta collocazione al libro a stampa postillato. I libri a stampa sono normalmente considerati delle copie multiple. La descrizione delle postille deve informare, in maniera sintetica, sia sulla loro dislocazione nel libro e nella pagina, sia delle loro caratteristiche paleografiche, linguistiche e culturali. Una riproduzione fotografica di almeno un esempio appare indispensabile. Diversi possono essere gli approcci e le interpretazioni delle postille secondo gli studi che si vuole intraprendere.

The study of the manuscript annotations has now a dignity. But it remains the conceptual difficulty to find an exact position to the printed book with annotations. The printed books are normally considered a set of the multiple copies. The description of manuscript annotations has to inform, in synthetic manner, on their placement in the book and in the page, on their paleographic, linguistic and cultural characteristic. A photographic reproduction of at least an example appear necessary. Different scholars have different approaches to the manuscript annotations, in accordance with the differences in studies that use them.
