Con la llegada de la era electrónica, se ha desarrollado una nueva tecnología que acorta la fase productiva del trabajo editorial y que imprime mayor rapidez a la marcha de las investigaciones. En virtud de ello, las publicaciones periódicas de diversas ciencias se han visto presionadas a reducir el tiempo que transcurre desde el recibimiento de los manuscritos hasta su publicación. Consiguientemente, los investigadores manifiestan cada vez más su inconformidad de tener que aguardar varios meses antes de que sus trabajos lleguen a la imprenta.

With the arrival of the electronic era, a new technology has been developed that shortens the productive phase of the publishing work and that prints greater rapidity to the march of the investigations. The journals of several sciences have been pressed to reduce the time that passes from the receivment of the manuscripts to its publication.
