Abstract

Mucho se ha dicho y escrito sobre la explosión informativa que caracteriza a la segunda mitad del siglo xx. En el contexto mundial de la información que la humanidad produce y consume, no cabe duda que la documentación relativa a las disciplinas agrupadas en lo que conocemos como ciencias de la salud es la más vasta y dinámica. Por la importancia que este fenómeno ocupa en la selección, acopio, organización y difusión de información biomédica, el presente documento pretende esbozar consideraciones generales sobre la producción hemerográfica en ciencias de la salud y las implicaciones relativas al comportamiento histórico de los precios de las suscripciones.

It has been said much and written on the informative explosion that characterizes to second half of century xx. In the world-wide context of the information that the humanity produces and consumes, the documentation relative to the sciences of the health are vastest and dynamic. The importance that this occupies in the selection, storing, organization and dissemination of biomedical information is presented in the present document.
