Dieser Artikel beschreibt die Verbindung zwischen Bibliotheken und aktuellen Techniken alternativen Publizierens. Für das Sondersammelgebiet Psychologie der Saarländischen Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek (SULB) war die Fragestellung zentral wie Bibliotheken, die einen besonderen Sammelauftrag haben, einen Beitrag zum Erhalt wissenschaftlicher Informationen leisten können. Die SULB interpretierte den fachlichen Sammelauftrag modern und richtete einen fachwissenschaftlich ausgerichteten Volltextserver (PsyDok) ein. Ein solcher Service bietet weit mehr als reine Archivierung. Gemäß dem Motto "maximizing research impact by maximizing research access" bieten fachlich zentrierte Volltextserver eine Infrastruktur für rasanten, globalen wissenschaftlichen Informationsaustausch und entsprechen den Prinzipien des "Open Access".

This article focuses on the connection between libraries and current alternative methods of publishing. The Special Subject Collection Psychology at Saarland University and State Library (SULB) faced the question how a contribution can be made to the availability and preservation of scientific information. SULB decided to interpret its task of collecting scientific psychological data in a modern way and established a fulltext server for psychological documents called PsyDok. A service like this offers much more than just the benefit of a guaranteed availability of electronic documents. By applying the motto "maximizing research impact by maximizing research access", a fulltext server offers a rapid and global scientific flow of information and servs the principles of "Open Access".
