A pesar de los avances tecnológicos, el acceso mediante el catálogo en línea a las colecciones locales sigue siendo deficitario. Mediante un análisis estadístico de una muestra de la colección de una biblioteca universitaria, este estudio demuestra que la proporción de monografías con carácter colectivo respecto al total de la colección y el número de trabajos intelectualmente individuales que contienen, hacen necesaria la provisión de acceso a este tipo de trabajos mediante el catálogo en línea.

Despite new technological advances, access to local collections via the online catalogue is still deficient. By means of the statistical analysis of a sample taken from a university library collection this study shows that the ratio of collective monographs vis a vis both the whole of the collection and the number of individual works contained therein makes it necessary to provide access to this type of works via the online catalogue.
