Abstract

To 1977 o Dennis A. Lewis ισχυρίστηκε πως: “Μέχρι το έτος 2000, όταν η παγκόσμια αυξανόμενη δικτύωση των επικοινωνιών θα προσφέρει στη συντριπτική πλειοψηφία των ανθρώπων σε όλο τον κόσμο ραγδαία πρόσβαση σε γνώση και πληροφορίες, οι επιστήμονες της πληροφόρησης και το επάγγελμα του βιβλιοθηκονόμου θα έχουν την τύχη των Βροντόσαυρων”. Σήμερα βλέπουμε τις βιβλιοθήκες και τους βιβλιοθηκονόμους, όχι μόνο να υπάρχουν ακόμα αλλά και να συνεισφέρουν τα μέγιστα στην κοινωνία της πληροφόρησης.

[English abstract]

In 1977, Dennis A. Lewis argued that: “In the year 2000, with a world-wide communications network available which will provide universal rapid access to the substantial majority of required knowledge, the information scientists and the librarian will have gone the way of the brontosaurus”. Today, we can see libraries and librarians not only to exist but to make a big contribution to the information society.
