A partir del uso de Internet para brindar servicios de biblioteca a distancia y a partir del uso de la computadora en las instituciones académicas para preparar y editar electrónicamente libros, revistas y documentos de trabajo, está cambiando la forma de trabajar en las áreas de biblioteca y de editorial de las instituciones de ciencias sociales. Este libro fue pensado para los bibliotecarios, editores, investigadores, informáticos, webmasters y otros protagonistas del proceso de crear, editar, procesar, difundir y brindar acceso a los conocimientos producidos por las ciencias sociales de América Latina y el Caribe.

The work in the libraries and in the publications department of social science academic and research institutions is changing dramatically since the advent of the Internet. Libraries are providing Web access to their databases and there is a growing trend within academic editors to promote e-publishing and open Web access to the full-text of books, journals, working documents and conference papers. This book was thought for librarians, editors, researchers, informaticians, webmasters and other actors within the process of creating, editing, processing and disseminating social science research results produced within Latin America and the Caribbean.
