Mart 2001'de İstanbul'da Türk Kütüphaneciler Derneği İstanbul Şubesinin düzenlediği Kütüphane Haftası Programı kapsamında yapılan konuşmanın metni. 1984 tarihini taşıyan Schwenke Kararından başlayarak 1980'lerden 2000'lerin başına dek Avrupa Birliği'nde yürütülen kütüphanelerle ilgili etkinlikler ve proje çalışmaları ele alınmıştır.

Text of the lecture given within the National Library Week programme organized by the Istanbul Turkish Branch of Turkish Librarians Association, March 2001, İstanbul. Starting with Schwencke Resolution which recommended establishment of the European Library in 1984, the paper surveys activities and projects run in the field of library and information services in EU from 1980s to the beginning of 2000s.
