El Formato MARC sigue siendo el estándar de representación y comunicación de información bibliográfica y relacionada más conocido y usado en las bibliotecas. Constituye además, una gran herramienta que facilita la interacción del bibliotecario con el computador. Se presenta un resumen de su estructura y una reflexión sobre su importancia en nuestros OPAC’s.

The MARC Format is still the standard for the representation and communication of bibliographic and related information. Moreover, it is a great tool that facilitate the interaction between the librarian and the computer. This article presents a summary of its structure and a reflection about its importance in our OPAC’s.
