Abstract

Surveys the agricultural research institutes in Kerala, India having library and information divisions. Emphasizes the need for establishing a computer communication network interlinking these institutions which will provide access to the pool of information generated by these institutions as well as allow access to agriculture related databases from world wide sources. Points out that this only can enable effective utilization of up-to-date information by agricultural scientists, students and farmers of the State. Puts foreword a plan for setting up an Agricultural and Farm Information System (AGFIS) for the State of Kerala (India) under the leadership of Kerala Agricultural University.
