Abstract
With Open Access defined and its rationale established, the question is then how to do it. As ever, the technology is not the point, but the technology does continue to play a crucial enabling role for the Open Access movement. Without the internet, there would be no Open Access movement. In the following chapter, Chris Awre outlines the technology of OA, centred undoubtedly on the OAI-PMH, but with a varied and promising hinterland.
