Abstract

Aborda a questão das conseqüências do surgimento de sistemas baseados em inteligências artificiais (IA's) na formação de bibliotecários e cientistas da informação. Procura responder a algumas indagações como: quais as contribuições das IA's para essas áreas e quais as dessas para o campo das IA's; e quais as possíveis mudanças na atuação profissional. A ampliação e o redirecionamento que vêm sendo dado a algumas funções serão impulsionados com o uso das IA's. Modelos e métodos tradicionais deverão ser repensados por força da exigência de maior competência profissional. É provável o surgimento de novos campos de pesquisa dentro da Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação, levando a criação de cursos voltados para essas áreas de especialização.

[English abstract]

Discusses the increasing tendency for the use of artificial intelligence systems (Al's), in order to sketch its impact on Library and Information Science (L&IS) education. Examines the possible benefits for both Al's and L&IS fields and also the potential changes on professional skills. The trend for a different dimension and a new orientation for some library functions will be enhanced by Al's applications. Traditional models and methods will have to be appreciated because of the need for greater professional competence. New research áreas will probably be created within L&IS with consequent arising of their respective specializing courses.
