Information Literacy is a common topic within information professionals: this article focuses on IL in Europe after the publication of a report by the Italian Council for Research.

La “formation à l’information” – traduction littérale d’Information Literacy – est une notion en débat parmi les professionnels de l’information et fait l’objet de nombreux séminaires ou congrès, le dernier en date étant celui de l’IFLA 2004. Chaque professionnel œuvre à cette tâche d’importance auprès de ses utilisateurs, l’objectif étant de leur donner le maximum d’autonomie par rapport à leur recherche d’information. Il existe plusieurs acceptations ou définitions de cette notion.
