SISSA pubblica a partire dal 1997 le riviste elettroniche JHEP (Journal of High Energy Physics), JCAP (Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, dal 2003), JSTAT (Journal of Statistical Mechanics: theory and experiment nel 2004) e JCOM (Journal of Science Communication. Nel 2000 ha crea Ulisse, una considerevole banca dati di materiali di informazione scientifica altamente qualificata in continuo incremento e aggiornamento. Con la nascita di Internet si sono ampliate le possibilità di comunicazione scientifica prima con i preprint su file raccolti in archivi elettronici e in seguito con i giornali elettronici funzionanti con il metodo della peer review e divisi in due grandi categorie: le strutture gratuite e quelle a pagamento. Ma i giornali elettronici per diversi motivi non hanno ancora ampia diffusione. La risoluzione del problema è proposta tra il modello dell’open access, dove a pagare sarebbe gli scienziati che pubblicano, e tra il il modello JHEP dove gli investimenti sono sostenuti da vari sponsor e con un accesso parzialmente aperto.

SISSA publishes since 1997 the electronic journals JHEP (Journal of High Energy Physics), JCAP (Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, for 2003), JSTAT (Journal of Statistical Mechanics: theory and experiment from the 2004) e JCOM (Journal of Science Communication. In the 2000 it created Ulisse a data bank of scientific informations most qualified and in continually refresher course. By the birth of Internet the possibility of comunications enlarge at first with preprint on file collected in electronic archives and then with e-journals, These operate with peer review model. The electronic journals are torn in free and to payment structures. But the e-journals don’t have more circulation for varius reasons. The author suggest for the solution of the problem the open acces model, where the authors pay to publish the articles, or the JHEP model, where the investiments are paid with some sponsors and where the acces is partiality free
