Abstract

This paper looks at the history of private records collecting activities at the University of Calgary. The paper gives an overview of the units that are acquiring such records, and attempts to explain the impetus for the emphasis on private records collecting at the University, and what is behind the recent increase in these activities and how they have been influenced by broader university policy. The paper concludes by touching on some of the issues experienced at the University of Calgary which arise from collecting private records.
