Abstract

[German abstract]
Der Beitrag berichtet über eine in diesem Jahr im zentralen System des Österreichischen Bibliothekenverbundes unter der Bibliothekssoftware "Aleph 500" neu eingerichtete Normdatei, die mehrere "koexistierende" Klassifikationssysteme aufzunehmen vermag. Implementiert wurden darin bisher die Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC) und die Basisklassifikation (BK). Folgende Aspekte werden im Detail angesprochen bzw. dokumentiert: Ziele und Nutzungserwartungen, konzeptionelle Überlegungen, redaktionelle Arbeiten, Parameter- und Tabellen-Setup inklusive Kategorienschema und Indexierung, Einbettung in die Verbundarchitektur einschliesslich der Nutzungsmöglichkeiten durch die lokalen Bibliothekssysteme des Verbundes, Arbeitsschritte bei der Implementierung. Der Artikel schliesst mit einer Übersicht über die derzeit realisierten Funktionalitäten im Bearbeitungs- und OPAC-Bereich sowie einem kurzen Ausblick auf zukünftige Entwicklungen.

[English abstract]
The article reports on a new authority file that can accommodate several different classification schemes. This new database has been recently implemented in the central system of the Austrian Library Network using the "Aleph 500" library software. So far, this authority file contains the Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC) and the German version of the Dutch Basic Classification (BC). The paper goes into detail on the following aspects: aims and objectives of the project, conceptual design, editorial processing, setup of tables and parameters (including data element catalogue and indexing), integration into the consortium's architecture, options for the use by local library systems, steps of project implementation. It concludes with an overview of the present functionalities for cataloguers and OPAC users, as well as a brief look at future prospects.
