Abstract

Este artículo ofrece una breve historia de la enseñanza bibliotecológica en Nicaragua. Desde 1980 hasta 1997 hubo una Escuela de Bibliotecología como departamento oficial de la Universidad Centroamericana (UCA). Antes y después de estas fechas, diversas instituciones han organizado cursos más o menos irregulares para el personal que trabaja en bibliotecas. El autor afirma que es necesario volver a crear una estructura formal de educación para entrenar a los bibliotecarios que se necesitan para el desarrollo del país.

This article offers a brief history about education in librarianship in Nicaragua. From 1980 to 1997 there was a Library School like official department of the Universidad Centroamericana (UCA). Before and after these dates, diverse institutions had organized more or less irregular courses for personnel who works in libraries. The author affirms that it is necessary to return to create a formal structure of education to train librarians who are needed for development of the country.
