Abstract

[ESPAÑOL] El artículo define en primer término lo que se entiende por patrimonio desde una mirada general, para luego revisar algunos tipos que se han derivado de este concepto, gracias a la evolución y desarrollo de la humanidad y que poco a poco han sido insertadas dentro del concepto de patrimonio en sus varias clases, hasta llegar al que interesa a esta investigación, cual es el patrimonio documental de una institución y en este caso específico de la Universidad de Antioquia, cuya producción académica, administrativa, científica, cultural y social la señalan como una gran empresa generadora de valiosos aportes al conocimiento y de significativas investigaciones que se deben mostrar no solo a la comunidad local sino a la internacional, y que sin duda se nutrirán de su producción y por ende de su valor cognoscitivo.

Esta investigación recopila la producción documental de las dependencias del Área Administrativa del Alma Mater, presenta objetivos, proceso metodológico, tipo de publicaciones, limitaciones, productos y finalmente unas conclusiones y recomendaciones que enfatizan en la importancia de esta clase de estudios.

[ENGLISH] In the first place, this article defines what is meant by patrimony in general terms, and then it reviews some understandings that have been derived from this concept because of human evolution and development—which in turn have become part of the concept of patrimony in its many senses. Of special interest in this study is the documentary patrimony of a given institution, which in this case is the University of Antioquia, whose academic, administrative, scientific, cultural, and social production show it to be a great enterprise that has generated valuable contributions to knowledge and research,
demonstrating not only to the local community but the international one as well, that all will be nourished by its production and therefore by its cognitive value.

This study covers the documentary production of the Administrative Area of the Alma Mater, while presenting objectives, methodology, types of publications, limitations, products, and finally some conclusions and recommendations that emphasize the importance of this kind of study.
