Abstract
[English abstract]
In science, films are an important aid for presentation, demonstration, documentation, and/or information. They serve to expose any subject by means of the word and the images; a scientist can keep in his drawers (i. e., an archaeologist) reproductions of all his acts and objects relative to its science and to analyze them in depth, without having to move, the slow or fast motion serving to evidence facts and to understand phenomena that before were incomprehensible (insect’s flight, medical applications, sports, etc). In education the most expressive method is the cinema, that reproduces facts and objects and facilitates by mean of drawings and schemes to understand phenomena. It is difficult to classify film because it can simultaneously be a documentary, scientific, educative and even commercial. The main characteristic of scientific films is derived from the presence of the word, sound, movement and colour.

El cine para Otlet: un documento 'sustituto del libro'.
En ciencia, el cine es un auxiliar importante en todos los órdenes de exposición, un agente de información, de documentación y de demostración. Sirve para exponer cualquier tema mediante la palabra y la proyección fija, un científico puede guardar en sus cajones (por ejemplo un arqueólogo) reproducidos todos los actos y objetos relativos a su ciencia y analizarlos en profundidad, sin tener que desplazarse, la cámara lenta o rápida sirve para desvelar hechos y comprender fenómenos hasta el momento incomprensibles (vuelo de insectos, aplicaciones médicas, deporte, etc). En la enseñanza también es el método más expresivo; el cine reproduce hechos y objetos y facilita mediante dibujos y esquemas la comprensión de fenómenos y exposiciones. Los distintos tipos se confunden: una película puede ser documental, científica y educativa a la vez e inclusive de cartel. La película siempre tiene una componente artística derivada de la presencia de la palabra, el movimiento, el sonido y el color.
