Abstract
[ESPAÑOL]El artículo desarrolla una exhaustiva revisión del concepto de documento. Partiendo de una perspectiva informativa que entiende el documento como manifestación de un acto comunicativo, se establecen los ejes que identifican las funciones básicas de fijación y trasmisión de mensajes. La proliferación de una nueva generación de tipos de documentos obliga a revisar los componentes de los ejes básicos para verificar y ampliar el campo de validez y aplicación del concepto, constatando su suficiencia y consistencia teórica actual.
[ENGLISH]This article provides an exhaustive review of the concept of the document. Beginning with an informative perspective, which understands the document as a manifestation of an act of communication, it establishes the axes that identify the basic functions of fixation and the transmission of messages.
The proliferation of a new generation of types of documents makes it necessary to revise the components
of the basic axes in order to verify and expand the field of validity and application of the concept,
confirming its sufficiency and its current theoretical consistency.
