Viene trattato il tema della certificazione nel contesto della società globalizzata, in cui il mercato impone le sue regole e gli Stati nazionali si adeguano di conseguenza alla
deregulation, pur nei meandri di un complesso rapporto tra norma volontaria e norma cogente. Vengono quindi illustrati i concetti di qualità, di sistemi di gestione e di certificazione. Dopo aver effettuato un breve excursus sulle definizioni di norma e di ente normatore, vengono esaminate le diverse tipologie di certificazione: di prodotti/servizi, di sistemi, di personale, con particolare riguardo al settore della I&D. L'ultima parte è dedicata ai sistemi di accreditamento che costituiscono la base di validazione dell'intero processo.

The topic of certification is dealt with in the context of the global society, where markets establish their rules and national states consequently adapt themselves to
deregulation, even in a very complex relation between voluntary standards and compulsory regulation. The concepts of quality, of management systems and of certification are illustrated. After a brief overview on the definitions of standards and of standardization institutes, the various types of certification are outlined: products/services, systems, personnel, with special emphasis on the I&D sector. The last section is dedicated to accreditation systems, that are the basis to validate the whole process.
