Desde la Dirección General de Salud Pública y Planificación, dependiente de la Consejería de Salud y Servicios Sanitarios del Principado de Asturias, se lidera el proyecto de puesta en marcha y gestión de la Biblioteca Virtual gcSalud, junto con la colaboración de la Oficina de Investigación Biosanitaria-FICYT. En esta comunicación, se presenta la situación actual del proyecto y sus perspectivas de futuro. Con la Biblioteca Virtual gcSalud, se pretende dar acceso a todos aquellos recursos electrónicos de información científica, que cumplan unos mínimos de calidad, relevancia y actualidad, y que ayuden al profesional del Sistema Sanitario Público Asturiano a satisfacer sus necesidades informativas. Por otra parte, la Biblioteca Virtual se convertirá en la cabecera del Sistema Bibliotecario Sanitario Asturiano, y se proyecta como herramienta imprescindible en el trabajo diario del profesional, facilitándole su tarea investigadora, científica y asistencial. Desde una única Interface, el usuario tiene a su alcance, los recursos informativos necesarios para el desempeño de su trabajo diario. La Biblioteca Virtual es accesible desde el Portal asturSalud del Principado de Asturias.

Since the General Directorate of Public Health and Planning under the Ministry of Health and Health Services of Asturias, is leading the project start-up and management of the Virtual Library gcSalud, with the collaboration of the Research Office Biosanitaria - FICYT. This communication presents the current status of the project and its future prospects. With the Virtual Library gcSalud, is intended to give access to all electronic resources of scientific information, that meet minimum quality, relevance and timeliness, and to assist the professional Asturian Public Health System to meet their information needs. Moreover, the Virtual Library will become the head of the Health Asturian Library system, and is projected as indispensable tool in the daily work of professional, providing its task researcher, scientific and care. From a single interface, the user's disposal, the information resources needed to carry out their daily work. The Virtual Library is accessible from the portal asturSalud of Asturias.
