Abstract
[English abstract] Since June 2006 the university library at the Medical University Vienna has run the weblog "UbMUW-Info" based on Open-Source software WordPress. The weblog was implemented in the course of a homepage rearrangement to serve as central information and communication platform. Firstly the paper reports on general aspects of weblog operation. Following the weblog's range of application in a scientific library will be shown taking the university library at the Medical University Vienna as an example. Finally conclusions will be drawn on the the library's one year weblog experience and its 200+ weblog entries to date. A prospect on further steps in weblog development at the university library at the Medical University Vienna will be given.
[German abstract] Seit Juni 2006 betreibt die Universitätsbibliothek der Medizinischen Universität Wien ein Weblog, das im Zuge einer Neugestaltung der Bibliotheks-Website als zentrales Element der Information und Kommunikation implementiert wurde. UbMUW-INFO wird auf der Basis der Open Source-Software WordPress erstellt.
Im Beitrag werden allgemeine Aspekte des Einsatzes von Weblogs besprochen. In weiterer Folge werden am Beispiel der Universitätsbibliothek der Medizinischen Universität Wien die Einsatzmöglichkeiten an einer wissenschaftlichen Bibliothek dargestellt. Abschließend folgen, aufbauend auf die Erfahrungen von mittlerweile ca. 200 Meldungen, ein Resümee über ein Jahr Weblog-Einsatz sowie eine Vorschau auf die nächsten geplanten Entwicklungsschritte für das Weblog der Universitätsbibliothek der Medizinischen Universität Wien.
