VIRTUEAL READING ROOM. POSSIBILITIES OF A USER-FRIENDLLY PRESENTATION OF COLLECTIONS VIA INTERNET.

Three strategies are focused: First the representation of bookshelves such as the DeweyBrowser of OCLC, second
the representation of spatiality such as the „Infosystem“ of the Philological Library of the Freie Universität Berlin, and third the communicative facet such as the platform LibraryThing. An adequate website architecture, information visualization and elements of library 2.0 can contribute to explore spaces virtually and accentuate real reading rooms.

Im Fokus stehen drei Strategien: Erstens die Repräsentation der Bücherregale am Beispiel des DeweyBrowsers von OCLC, zweitens die Repräsentation der Räumlichkeiten am Beispiel des Infosystems der Philologischen Bibliothek der Freien Universität Berlin und drittens die kommunikative Facette am Beispiel der Plattform LibraryThing. Eine angemessene Seitenarchitektur, Informationsvisualisierungen und Bibliothek-2.0-Elemente tragen dazu bei, Räume virtuell zu erkunden, und bringen reale Lesesäle zur Geltung.
