L'articolo affronta il problema delle negoziazioni dei contratti di licenza di uso delle risorse elettroniche e presenta la proposta fatta da Judy Luther a gennaio 2006 in occasione dell'ALA Midwinter Meeting di un Best Practice Document, per sollevare editori e bibliotecari dal problema delle negoziazioni.

Licenses are a new challenge for librarians and publishers. A great amount of time and a great deal are necessary to support negotiations with publishers. The article discusses the Judy Luther proposal of a Best Practice Option, as an alternative to licensing. A new NISO official working Group the NISO/SERU was created in 2006 as an ouutcome of this proposal.
