Abstract
[Spanish abstract] Se hace un estudio de las funciones que un "bibliotecario" -tomado en sentido genérico. engloba también documentalislas y archivcros- debera realizar en los años 2000. Se aboga por una formación flexible, plurivalente y abierta, que ofrezca la posibilidad de formar generalistas y especialistas. Igualmente deberá permitir cambios de cometidos y funciones, con la posibilidadde ir subiendo en la escala de categorías. Las categorías irán unidas a los niveles de responsabilidad que en cada caso se asuman. Se prevé un aumento del profesional especializado. tanto en la preparación de la información. como en la atención al usuario. Se prevé, asi mismoun aumento de las empresas bibliotecariasde servicios,como por ejemplo las consultorías. Igualmente se aboga por el incremento de funcionesde gestión y organización, presentando un amplio abanico de tareas a realizar.
[English abstract] The information professional in the year 2000 and after. A study of the funclions that a librarian -understood in its generic sense of refering both to informalion scientists and archlvists as wellwill have to perlorm in the year 2000 and after is conducted. A flexible, multivalue and open education which atrords the opportunity to train generalist and specialists is advocated. Similarly, it should allow changes of responsibilities and functions as well as the possibility to move up the career ladder. Professional positions should be tíed to responsibilities assumed. An increase of specialised professionals is forecast both for the preparation of information and atention to users. Similarly. an incrase in library service enterprises such as consultancies is forecast. Like wise, the increase of managing and organising functions is advocated. thus having a wide range of tasks to persorm.
