Abstract

[English abstract] It presents an introduction to systems targeted to the automation and management process of scientific electronic journals, lists the Brazilian journals in the area of Information Science which already make use of this type of resource. It introduces the Open Journal Systems (OJS), discussing about its main characteristics and functions. It explains the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) and its importance in the context of free information access . It explains the migration process of the old electronic version of the scientific electronic journal Informação & Sociedade: Estudos to the OJS, presenting the most important stages of the process as well as the difficulties faced and the guidelines adopted to reach a final solution.

[Portuguese abstract] Faz uma introdução aos sistemas voltados para a automação e gerência do processo de publicação de periódicos científicos eletrônicos, lista os periódicos brasileiros na área da Ciência da Informação que já fazem uso desse tipo de recurso. Apresenta o Open Journal Systems – OJS, discorre sobre as sua principais características e funcionalidades. Apresenta a iniciativa dos arquivos abertos (OAI) e a sua importância no contexto do livre acesso a informação. Apresenta o processo de migração da antiga versão eletrônica do periódico científico eletrônico Informação & Sociedade: Estudos para o sistema OJS. Analisa as etapas mais importantes deste processo, bem como, as dificuldades encontradas e as diretrizes adotadas para alcançar soluções eficientes.
