The presentation is organised in 4 functional parts: the first deals with the original works of art (CDWA, schemas of the italian ICCD, particularly for the description of photos, by the Sovrintendenze ai monumenti, VRA); the second with the reproductions of work of arts (particularly VRA(core), ISBD(G) and MARC, DC); the third examines the schema that deal with the structure of the collections and archives (specially ISAD(G) and Sepia), and the fourth the functionalities and characteristics of the information systems: the OAIS schema is presented as well as the metadata architecture of the Library of Congress and the schema METS. After an analysis of preservation metadata of the RLG, italian esperiences like ARSBN and finally the schema MAG are examined.</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">IE.
