Through literature, it is possible to notice that there is no consensus among researchers on this issue, but the transformation of postmodern identity adds to the information consumption in multimedia format, which was detected as a common behaviour in the U.S. libraries &#13;
(public, school and university). In Brazil, the library seems to be more rooted in the strategy to promote reading books, than to the idea of democratic access to different media, generating a distance between institutions and users and the migration of the younger generation to other institutions that meet their new demands. </mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">BG.
