| Abstract: | Some recent examples of initiatives of libraries and librarians are described to explain how the professional role of librarians is changing in relation with the changing social context. This change would be consequence of the necessity to justify themselves through the social utility of its services, as well as to improve their image in society and to promote their libraries, in a context of the large range of informative, educative and cultural offers available. |
| Other Abstracts: | En este texto describimos algunos ejemplos recientes de iniciativas de bibliotecas y bibliotecarios, que muestran cómo la profesión y sus prácticas están evolucionando en función de las necesidades sociales, como consecuencia, creemos, de una actitud emprendedora y social. Esta actitud sería a su vez consecuencia de la conciencia de la necesidad de legitimarse a través de la utilidad social de sus servicios, así como de comunicarse al máximo a la sociedad y promoverse y avanzar, en un contexto competitivo y de crecimiento de la oferta informativa, educativa y cultural disponible. |
