Abstract: This presentation demonstrates how librarians can use the social bookmark tool, del.icio.us, to generate and dynamically update library Web pages featuring subject-based Internet resources. del.icio.us is a website that allows users to save Web links, assign keywords (tags) to those links, and add descriptive notes. del.icio.us also generates customized snippets of code that can be embedded into html to display those links in a library webpage. The advantages are that multiple librarians can contribute links to subject pages via a single del.icio.us account, accessible with any Internet connection, without having to update the website itself; subject pages are auto-generated using one or more tags (eg. “Canada” and “history”); links on Internet resource pages can be kept current and library patrons can subscribe to subject pages via RSS or using their own del.icio.us account.
