| Abstract: | Given that historical newspapers comprise important sources of information about the society, the politics and the economics of the past, this paper attempts to put forward the importance of the digitization and the digital availability of Greek historical newspapers. Issues of digital collection design, creation and promotion are tackled with an emphasis on successful implementation, easy access, data retrieval and use for research, academic and non-academic needs. Certain actions towards these ends are proposed. |
| Other Abstracts: | Δεδομένου ότι οι ιστορικές εφημερίδες αποτελούν σημαντική πηγή πληροφόρησης για την κοινωνική, πολιτική και οικονομική εξέλιξη ανά τους αιώνες, το παρόν άρθρο επιχειρεί να τεκμηριώσει τη σημασία της ψηφιοποίησης και ψηφιακής διάθεσης των ιστορικών ελληνικών εφημερίδων. Προσεγγίζονται θέματα σχεδιασμού, δημιουργίας και διάθεσης ψηφιακών συλλογών ελληνικών ιστορικών εφημερίδων με έμφαση στην αποτελεσματική υλοποίηση, στην άνετη πρόσβαση, στην ανάκτηση και στην αξιοποίηση του υλικού τόσο από το ευρύ κοινό όσο και από τον ειδικό ερευνητή. Προτείνονται σχετικά συγκεκριμένες δράσεις προς αυτές τις κατευθύνσεις. |
